Todd, great podcast from Die Empty! So excited to hear that you’ve been out speaking a lot. That means that more creatives are hearing the message of how to be our best creative selves and stay healthy at the same time. Keep up the good work my friend!

Todd, great episode as usual. On the front end of this episode you mention how you have been out speaking on a regular basis and traveling quite a bit. How do you handle creativity while traveling?

I have found it extremely difficult to maintain any sort of routine or creative flow while traveling. It seems that travel itself can just weigh you down and often my creative pursuits get postponed until I return.

What has your experience been maintaining your creative flow while traveling?

Jake, I’ve discovered that I have to be intentional about carving out time when traveling. I try to maintain my morning routine, when possible. (If traveling west, I find this easy because I try to stay on my native Eastern Time.) When I’m headed into a city, I’ll get a lot of work done on the plane. However, when I’m headed home after working, I tend to cut myself some slack and just relax a bit. One thing that I’ve discovered is that it’s worth the minor expenses in order to travel well and comfortably. There are small things you can do to make life a lot more convenient on the road and ensure your ability to deliver when it counts most. (I think I’ll write a short post about this soon.)
