Fabulous. It reminds me why I chose to be a mother. I certainly did not give up the career I loved because I wanted to change diapers all day, every day. And I certainly did not do it because I love fixing three different dinners each night.
HOWEVER, I do absolutely get excited about watching my children grow up. I know someday they will be smart, independent, productive, caring adults – and THAT is worth all the work now.
When we focus in on our values, what we choose to work on changes. And it can change dramatically. Tommy Newberry puts it well in his book Success Is Not An Accident:
“High achievers are motivated by pleasurable outcomes. Underachievers are motivated by pleasurable methods.”
Thanks Todd, for the reminder to stay focused on values.

This is a great episode Todd. I think it is so often that we get lost trying to believe that if we are working toward our passion every moment of it will be wonderful and fulfilling. The point you bring up about being committed to an outcome and finding passion in that is eye opening. Your writing is truly incredible and has inspired change in my life.
